The Curious World Of Tin Type Photography: “Painting With Light” — With Jason Guffey

source: lensofdarkness.net

Jason Guffey, is one of the world’s precious few craftsmen specializing in tintype photography. Developed in the mid-1800s, its practitioners, who frequently traveled in horse drawn studios, traveled great distances to offer the world a chance to view, in near real time, the horrors of war, along with the candid faces of families and famous western gun slingers.

Jason fell in love with both the chemistry and aura of a practice descibed as “painting with light”. And he’s here to revel us with stories of his unique craft .. along with, yes, a ghost story or two thrown in for good measure.

Dark Photography With Jason Guffey

Jason Guffey is a noir photographer whose Victorian era tintype equipment renders dark, atmospheric images that elude the binary ones and zeroes of modern digital cameras.

Wandering lost in ideas and with no way to harness them in a way he saw fit, Jason began searching for a darker style photography outlet to express himself. Searching the interwebs, Jason saw what he observed as the perfect images and expression. He found this in his now friend, idol, and mentor’s work, John Santerineross.

Join us as we explore the world of dark imagery with a dedicated enthusiast of the paranormal.
